Personal Growth Program
A personal growth program may be just what you need to help you progress along your path toward realizing your true potential. It could facilitate a breakthrough or, just as easily, it could turn out to be ineffective at best and, at worst, actually detrimental for your development. What exactly is a personal growth program and how can you tell the difference between a good program and a bad one?
The personal growth program came into being during the personal development movement of the 1960′s. Early sessions were somewhat more formal extensions of encounter-type groups and encouraged open communication, expanded consciousness and free thinking.
Later personal growth programs continued in this direction but also expanded into leadership and personal development of a holistic nature, encouraging the incorporation of the individual’s spiritual, professional and personal endeavors into a more complete and “whole” person.
Today there are literally hundreds upon hundreds of different types of programs. In order to find the right personal growth program, one which will facilitate a positive change in your life, you first have to evaluate what outcome you are looking for. When you are able to more closely define the results you are seeking from a program, the more effectively you can determine which particular one stands the best chance of being successful for you.
Ask questions about the personal growth program content, the facilitator and staff. Determine the credentials of the key people involved and the ratio of staff to participants. Also find out if there are also supportive systems in place for after the program ends. Life-changing events, even those of a positive nature, can leave an individual feeling like they are standing on somewhat shaky ground. An effective program should have a procedure in place for follow-up.
A personal growth program may be the catalyst which propels you farther and faster down the path toward realizing your personal goals. Taking the time to carefully evaluate a particular program can result in a more successful outcome for you.
