A family unit is the unit which builds up a person’s personality. How you behave and what you become in life is very much dependent on your family life. Psychologists believe that a child learns the most from his or her family life. The way your family members deal with you has a life long effect on your personality. Keeping in view all these facts the importance of your family life cannot be denied. Family unit happens to be the most important part of your life till you grow up. The children are usually closer to their parents and their siblings as compared to any other person in the world. As the children grow up they find good friends, spouses, their own kids and colleagues to share their lives with. Although time brings this change but the importance of family remains there. The children who have a sound family background and who belong to a family with strong family ties are almost always happier. Thus one cannot deny the importance of family life.

The life with your family is very important as it plays a major role in your development into the person you become. The goals you set for yourself in your life are very much dependent on the life you have with your family. Those children who belong to the families which have a rich education background tend to learn more. They are interested in learning more and thus it is easy for their parents to get them educated. Similarly, for example, children who belong to a family from which a few of the people are in the field of professional sports, the kids tend to have an interest in sports and they also plan to go to the same field. The sons and daughters of stars from the film industries usually plan to follow the suit of their parents. Thus it is the effect of your family life which guides you to decide what profession you want to do as an adult.

Family life is also important in the sense that it gives you your basic strength as a person. The people who have a smooth and well settled family life are generally less scared of life. Those who are a part of broken family are generally less confident. These people always expect the worst in life. This is a general state of mind which results in building up of a negative personality. Family life is also important to people as it is the part of our life which has more effects on us as compared to any other part of our life. The way a mother treats her kids is actually the deciding factor what those kids will be like as human beings when they grow up.

As important as family life is, it is a big problem in the world of today where the family units are breaking more often and the divorce rates have grown many times. The higher divorce rates result in more broken families that in turn lead to a lot more number of children who suffer through this insecurity in their early ages and as a result they are not that stable. These people tend to have a variety of fears and insecurity. They do not have the courage to face their life. The sole reason behind it is that they have a very tough experience in their family life. As family life plays a very important role in shaping you as a person, lack of security in your family life makes you a bit unstable as a person.

In today’s world a big social problem is that the family unit is not being considered as important by the people as it used to be. In many parts of the world the time period for which people live together as a family is shrinking. The family life adds a sense of responsibility in your personality which lacks in those people who have not have a very nice family life.

A job interview is very essential for both the employer and applicant for the very reason that it will be the basis of rejecting or accepting the applicant for the vacant job. Thus, as an applicant, it is relevant that he or she must be fully prepared for the job interview. You must remember that your employer or interviewer does not only consider the way you dress, your credentials, or even your answers to his questions. Your body language is also being well-observed.

Your body language can tell another person what kind of person you are, your emotions, and state of mind. An employer would be looking for a confident and competent employee. Thus, you should know and learn the posture to maintain, movements to impress, and gestures to avoid during the interview.

Postures You Must Maintain

Never slouch! Either in sitting or standing, slouching would give the impression of laziness or lack of confidence. Do not sit at the edge of the chair, this would mean that you are too nervous or tense. Simply relax into your chair, and place your hands on your lap. Crossing the legs is not really advisable, but nonetheless it is fine, as long as the direction of your body is towards the interviewer.

Movements To Impress

You can show your interest and confidence through handshakes, and you can give a good first impression as well. However, there are times wherein initiating the handshake would make you appear overconfident. When you shake hands, make sure you make eye contact, but not longer than three seconds. Your palm should be able to touch the palm of your interviewer. Extend your arm and point your hand downwards.

Eye contact is important in a job interview. This shows that you are honest, sincere, and confident. The lack of eye contact may mean that you are lying or being uncomfortable.

When responding, make use of your hands. Showing your palm when explaining something indicates that you are being relaxed, honest, and confident. The interviewer will think that you know what you are talking about. If you want to emphasize something, you can do it with a clenched fist; but this is not an advisable gesture during an interview.

You can show interest and that you are listening attentively to your interviewer through head movements. Nodding is a reinforcement that you understood or agreed to what he or she said. Even though there are ideas that you would like to oppose to, nodding is still preferable rather than arguing. The latter might be the reason why you cannot get the job.

Gestures You Must Avoid

Avoid putting your hands into your pockets. This can emphasize your nervousness, or can give your interviewer that you may be hiding something from him, or you are uninterested to get the job. You can use hand movements when talking, however do not use them frequently. Excess movements can distract your interviewer from listening to your responses.

Another gesture you must avoid is frequent eye movement. Avoiding the interviewer’s eyes will make him think that you are not listening or getting bored and uninterested. This may also give the impression that you are the type of person who is easily distracted, a weakness that could make you unqualified for the job.

Better Safe Than Sorry

Body language does not necessarily show what you intend to convey or really feel. But it is an advantage that you know the gestures you must use or avoid during a job interview to give a good impression for the words that you long to hear: “Congratulations. You are hired!”

Loving life with Alzheimer’s disease can be quite a challenge for some. This disease seems to be common among the elderly and seem to afflict quite a greater number of people. It is a disease that is still little understood and seem to have no cure as of yet. Many seniors tent do worry about the time that they themselves may be at risk of developing the said disease.

Alzheimer’s disease is known as a disease affecting brain function. Although doctors may not yet be sure of how the disease develops or even how to correctly diagnose it, there are certain research studies that have shown that the disease can be controlled. One way that the disease development can be delayed or even avoided is by trying to keep the mind active. This can be done in many ways.

Staying mentally active is a way to combat the development of the disease. Trying to make the brain stay active even with the elderly can help slow down the deterioration associated with Alzheimer’s. Challenging the mind is good exercise for the brain. Giving the brain a good workout daily can help sharpen it as well as help strengthen it. It can be as easy as solving crossword puzzles or reading. Learning new skills as well as taking classes can also help give the mind the exercise to make it develop. Pursuing hobbies can also be a good way to help keep the mind active.

Aside from keeping the mind active, physical activities can also help maintain a good brain. Physical exercises can help improve blood flow into the brain as well as to all parts of the body. Improved blood flow means that the brain cells as well as the other cells in the other organs and tissues get the much needed oxygen and nutrients needed to develop and function.

Diet is another important part of living well even with the threat of Alzheimer’s. One of the most important nutrients for the brain is Vitamin B. it is actually a group of vitamins that may aid in making the brain as well as the other parts of the body healthy. One of the most important of these B vitamins is vitamin B12. This vitamin aids in the formation of red blood cells as well as help maintain the central nervous system. Vitamin B12 also aids in the body’s metabolism.

Vitamin B12 is also known to help reduce homocysteine levels in the body. Studies have shown that high levels of homocysteine in the body are associated with the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Not only that, the high levels of homocysteine may also be associated with the development of vascular dementia, stroke and cardiovascular disease.

What makes this important to bear in mind especially for seniors is that many can easily become deficient in the vitamin. As people age, their ability to process this nutrient diminishes and therefore are prone to suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency. This can be remedied through a well balanced diet or even taking vitamin B supplements in order to compensate for the deficiency. Doing so may help a lot in trying to help people learn loving life despite the threat of Alzheimer’s.

Loving Life By Keeping Fit

Loving life means trying to take care of your health. In order to do so, you must try to make it a lifelong habit to keep fit. It can be challenge for some just to try and maintain a fitness regimen and transform it into a habit. But there are way in which keeping fit can be made a little bit easier.

Keeping fit does not always mean trying to kill yourself just going through the round of exercises day by day. In order to make a fitness regimen easier to follow as a habit, there are times that just making it simple is the best way. You do not have to go to the gym just to stay fit. There are simple and easier ways to do this.

What is important is that you try to find some physical activity that you love to do and would enjoy while doing it. The main idea is to get and stay active by working out your body in a way that can allow you to burn fat and lose some of that excess baggage. It can be as simple as having a daily walk on the park or just by going around the city by foot instead of by car. Hiking in the woods and using your bicycle to get around also makes for a good workout especially if you do it regularly.

If you are really serious about trying to stay fit, start making some goals in losing weight. Try to be more realistic and specific about it. Sure having lofty goals can sometime be great to think about. But if these goals are too difficult to achieve, then they do not mean anything at all. Try to start your fitness goals simple. You can try having to lose a pound in a week as a reachable goal. Keeping in mind to walk at least five minutes a day can be a goal simple enough to follow. But what is important about these goals is that you may be able to achieve them. Little by little, you then try to reach out for something bigger as you grow accustomed to doing your simple goals.

Another way to make it easier for you to keep fit is by trying to keep track of your progress. Being able to see that you are actually losing weight and getting active can easily strengthen your resolve to continue on. Make sure that you have your progress report in a place where you can see it and update often.

One way to make a habit of keeping fit is by having someone to join in with you. Having a friend along or even joining in a group of individuals trying to keep fit will make the habit become interesting and enjoyable. The challenge to do better in keeping fit becomes appealing and attractive if you have someone with you doing the same thing.

Keeping fit need not be something that should be boring to do. In fact it can also be an enjoyable endeavor only if you know how to. One of the best ways to keep a fitness regimen a habit is by trying to make it fun to do. You can easily follow it on a daily basis if you find it fun and enjoyable. The best part is that you are having fun while trying to stay trim. Now that is loving life in a sense.

The unfortunate question asked by the plenty of people. Today, many couples are facing some or the other problems in their married life. The first few years of married life are cheerful, but after some years, problems may arise due to conflicts along with bitterness and some misunderstanding. Generally, nobody directly thinks of breaking a marriage as it is hurting to both the partners. Every couple tries to find out some ways to resolve the problems in their married life and save a marriage.

Once you agree that there are some problems in your married life, you may need to think and find the reasons why. Off-course, it will be just like a one-way traffic and it is quiet difficult that you alone should try to improve your relations. Your partner should equally respond to your efforts to save your marriage. However, you must make some efforts to find out the problems in your married life and develop some qualities within you to maintain better relationships.

The first step you may need to take in order to save your marriage is to bring back the spark in your relationship again. It is very important to spend time with each other. You may use this time to relax and enjoy in each other’s company and recall the moments that you had spent together.

This may help to do away with the misunderstandings and resolve the conflict if any. You should show deep love for your partner and make him/her feel how much you need him/her. Love is an important bridge in a married life that may keep the couple bound together. You may send a romantic message to your partner or arrange for the romantic outings.

Self-assessment is a very important solution to the question can you save a marriage alone. You should be able to realize your mistakes and develop ways to improve your behavior. Avoid the things that may hurt your partner. The conflicts in married life may be due to ego or some misunderstandings. Hence, you should give away your ego and should take an initiative to resolve the problems in your married life. You should be ready for the compromises it demands.

Good communication is a very important factor for developing healthy relationships. You should share all your problems, expectations and feelings with your partner. Communication is not limited to just talking with others, but you should be able to listen to your partner and understand him/ her. The most important thing is that you should fully trust your partner and have faith in your relationship.

Keeping the marital relations alive is very challenging. Always remember that during the course of time, both the partners may change. It is also very important to learn how to deal with these changes. Off-course, it requires efforts and cooperation from both sides. But, you can take an initiative from your side and start to work on the problems in married life.

If you are still wondering, can you save a marriage alone, and then the answer is yes! You can save a marriage alone if you are ready to put in some efforts first.

Many people agree that it is ridiculous to teach people how they should react to specific conditions or simply, to control their emotions.

At first, this really sounds queer. After all, emotions are very subjective mediums of studies. Each one of us has his or her own fashion of dealing things out or reacting to specific stimulus. Even when the test is controlled. Emotions are as diverse as the personalities of human beings. This is because our characters are largely determined by the combinations of emotions that we are associated with.

During our prenatal development, our bodies have developed in specific ways as detailed in our genetical information. The color of our eyes, certain reactions to chemicals and the mixture of hormones we have in our bodies are all directed by the information encoded in our genes. Along with these comes our intellect. Thus our intelligence is stable and cannot be changed. We can only maximize or minimize our cognition and knowledge but our IQ level would remain constant. The condition with emotional intelligence is different though.

Emotions are developed only as we are exposed with specific stimuli triggered in our environment. These are not innate compositions of our bodies that would only sprout as needed. Our emotions are our reactions to things during our development. This is why babies during their birth have no concept of both positive and negative emotions. This is evident with children who are just starting to walk.

No one told them to walk yet something inside instructs them that it must be learned. And due to the absence of fear of falling, tripping or failing, they learn. If there were any inherent fears, it could have been impossible for him to even take his very first steps.

The point is emotions are part of our development. The present emotional intelligence that we have is the product of learning that we have encountered in the past. Incidentally, anyone can redirect their unwanted emotions into more useful ones in the same way as anyone can be taught of the proper ways to use their emotional intelligence.

Therefore, it is only crucial that emotional intelligence is taught, if possible at the very early age.

Teaching emotional intelligence would entail these five yardsticks as developed by psychologist and author, Daniel Goleman:

The first thing that must be taught is the ability to determine and identify one’s emotional states. Along with this must be the understanding of links between one’s actions, thoughts and emotions.

The second one is the development of proper management of emotions. This way, one will be able to control his or her emotions and to redirect undesirable emotions to more reasonable use.

Third is the training to take on the attitude of success and achievement while undergoing emotional states. Central to this is the positive state of thinking which in itself is very crucial in the development of one’s well being.

The ability to sense the line of one’s emotions must also be taught. In the process, the person will know how to be sensitive of another person’s emotions.

The fifth yardstick is a person’s capacity to enter and sustain a harmonious relationship with people he interacts with.

Once the person understands this, it would be easier to teach emotional intelligence.

Statistics reveal that an estimated 50% of the total people married in the year 2002 will terminate their marriage contract within ten years of marriage or after decades of married life. Every bride and bridegroom entering into a marriage contract have certain pre-conceived notion regarding the institution of marriage. Soon after the marriage, they realize that things are not moving as expected. This article attempts to discuss some tips that help to retain a long lasting married life.

Simple Tips to Help You

The first tip is to discuss with your partner about marriage expectations. It helps to understand the partner’s likes, dislikes, habits etc. better. This gives both the partners to realize what to expect from each other and will help plan and adjust accordingly with each other. Successful couples try to keep up their individuality. However, for important decisions of life they put in joint efforts. They tend to depend on each other for upbringing children or for making a house etc. which may lead to a feeling of being trapped. Despite this trapped feeling, one can keep up the individuality by enjoying hobbies, work, and going out with friends etc.

The next tip for success is to allow the partner to be on centre stage. Any opinion by the partner is taken seriously, while politely debating on the critical aspects of it. Often good couples refer their partners with high opinion to others. Good couples try to resolve the conflicts among themselves. This is yet another tip for success. There may be areas where you disagree with your partner, but ideal couples amicably solve it without any abuse or violence. Successful couples keep up the communication, even if they have bad feelings. They support each other during difficult times.

The next important tip is to keep ones lust alive. As years pass by due to work and bringing up the children could let you drain out such feelings. Couples should find time and space for active lovemaking. Finding newer ways to please and satisfy each other should be identified.

Successful couples know the personality traits of their partners. They may not change, but accept the natural changes in personality and partnership that occur naturally. Every couple needs to work at it to keep it going. Do not feel shy to get professional help if you cannot resolve the problem alone. As years pass you can be rest assured that nothing can change the bond. Remember loving is better than winning.

For us conventional Westerners, there are certain rules on dining that must be observed at all times. It is, for example, polite to wait for the hostess to serve you first rather than you serving your own plate before everyone else. It is also polite to position your silverware at 4:00 once you’re done with your meal. Furthermore, it is polite not to make unnecessary noise when eating. However, things are a bit different with other cultures. Check out the differences below:

China

In China, it is polite not to finish a meal, regardless if it’s rice, noodle or other Chinese cuisines. It is because when you leave nothing on your plate or bowl, you are sending them the signal that you want more and the hostess has not served you enough.

Japan

The case is different if you are in Japan. If you eat there, it is in your best interest to finish everything in your plate. The bonus? You get to have another serving. But what if you don’t like the food? You finish the plate anyway. Otherwise, you would be considered impolite.

Iran

Spoons and forks are not as popular in Iran as they are here in the Western world. So even if you don’t feel comfortable using your hands on your food, you should respect the custom and chow with it. So the next time you go there and you are expecting to eat with other people, try to wash your hands in advance. You will be thankful that you did.

Spain

While it is impolite to leave a messy table in most parts of the world, not to mention a cluttered floor once you’re done eating, it is somewhat expected of you in Spain. In Spain, especially in snack bars, you can throw your mess (used napkins, bread crumbs, food wrappings, etc.) on the floor. This is because they sweep the debris after you or before they close their shops and it is just expected that you leave something behind. Otherwise, you did not eat anything in the bar.

England

We Americans are fond of diving into our foods using our fingers, especially fried treats. But English people have a slightly different opinion about that. For them, it is necessary ONLY when there are no utensils around.

France

Should you or should you not ask a French chef extra ketchup? No, a big no. When in France, you MUST NEVER ask a chef to give you more ketchup, this is insulting and totally unacceptable.

Germany

If you find yourself in a high-class German restaurant and you ordered something that has chunks of potato in it, what is the proper way of slicing the potato into convenient pieces? The answer: with your fork. Knives are too smooth, they spoil the texture of the potatoes.

Australia

We all know that in some cultures, it is rude to stare direct to the eyes. However in Australia, it is rude to miss the eyes of the person you are clinking a toast with. Not looking a person in the eyes signifies that you don’t acknowledge the person’s presence.

Canada

You would usually get stares when you burp vigorously after a meal in most parts of the world but the Inuit people of Canada think otherwise. For them, it is a sign of gratitude for the meal.

Relationships are brittle things. With just a few angry words tossed out, you can break down years of relationships built up. Anger is the main culprit when you are considering things that can cause trouble between two people. If you deal with anger, you will have a particularly difficult time leading a normal and healthy family life. Therefore you should do your best to deal with anger in your family. You can’t expect to suppress all of your anger, but you can learn to deal with it in a way that will build up relationships rather than tear them down. Read on to learn how to do so.

Anger is something that damages not only you, but everyone around you. If you are always losing your temper around your children, you will see that eventually they will be nervous and fearful around you. It is painful to see your children avoid you out of fear. This alone is enough reason to get your anger under control. If you need any more reason, you should consider the fact that your anger will make your life miserable as well. Going through life angry at the world is no way to live, and you will end up stressed and probably depressed eventually.

When you are trying to get your anger problem under control, you will need to start looking at things from a different perspective. Think about what your spouse or children are feeling in a situation, so that you can sympathize with their viewpoints. Rather than being sarcastic and hurtful in a discussion, be tender and explain how you see where they are coming from. Never raise your voice, no matter how much you want to get your point across. When it comes time for you to share your feelings, let them know in a graceful way that you prefer things to be different. Let them know why. You should always try to reach a compromise. This will prevent you from getting your way every time (which is harmful), and promote good communication.

Particularly if you have hurt someone in the past due to your anger, you should make it very clear that you are trying to change yourself. When you let someone know that you are dealing with anger problems and that you are trying to become a better person, they will most likely be very willing to cooperate with you and help you in achieving your goal. So sit down with your spouse and have a chat. Admit the wrongs that you have committed in the past, and make it clear that you intend to completely change your outlook.

If the problem is reversed and you are dealing with a family member that is always easily angered, you should take action. It is not pleasant to live in fear of setting someone off, like a landmine. Talk to them about their problem, and let them know your fears or your discomfort at their behavior. Discuss what each of you can do to solve the problem. Whenever dealing with family problems, you need to do your best to be understanding and compromising. Your own desires are never the ultimate solution to a problem, and as soon as you realize this you will be better off.

If you are being true about loving life, this must be clear in every aspect of your day-to-day interactions. If you are a busy person who seems to be working all the time, what does it say about you? Well, if you can handle the pressure and the stress that the situation brings, then good for you.

But if your lifestyle is already costing you your health, then it is time for you to rethink your priorities. Did you know that chronic stress has been found out to be linked with the emergence of type 2 diabetes and increased chances to develop heart disease. This was according to the study that was done by the British Medical Journal.

If you current job is causing you constant stress and pressure, this will also lead to metabolic syndrome. These factors will cause high blood pressure, central obesity, insulin resistance and other factors and symptoms of the two said ailments.

It is understandable that you want to work hard for you and for your family’s future. Times are getting harder each day. People are losing their jobs. Corporations are closing down. Economy is getting weak. For such reasons, people are doing everything they can to hold on to what they have even if it is already causing them to be unfit and unhealthy.

If you find yourself in such dilemma, you can focus your energy on ways on how to reduce your stress levels. Here are some recommendations that you can follow for this purpose. If you cannot afford to lose the job that is causing too much stress, then start with the following to alleviate the roots of other health problems.

1. Exercise. This must be done on a daily basis. Make sure that before you enter the work jungle, you are prepped up and ready for any battle. And throughout the day, you must take your breaks to do some stretching. Slip into some breathing exercise whenever you can. This way, you will help yourself reduce the high tensions that your stressful job is making you suffer.

It is a good habit to perform this task regularly. This will help you stay fit. This way, you will feel good about yourself. If you feel like you are stuck in the rut in your workplace, make sure that you make up for it by treating your body right with some daily exercise regimen.

2. Eat right. Do not resort to junk foods and other treats that will increase your chances to develop weak heart and higher blood pressure. At work, you must be able to think clear in order to perform your tasks right no matter how stressful they seem to be. You can easily do this if you stuff yourself with the right foods that contain the nutrients that can help you stay fit and alert.

3. Pamper yourself. After a hard day’s work, you have to think of ways to reward yourself for a job well done. What do you love doing the most with your body? You may want to try a good massage. You can go to the spa every weekend or whenever you are free to go. Go to your favorite places on your free time. Shop around, hang out with friends or go to the salon to have that stylish haircut you’ve always wanted to try.

Loving life and loving yourself is easy to accomplish. You just really have to set a time for it.

What does your family mean to you? If you ask this question to ten different people you will get ten distinctly different answers to this question. To some people their family may be simply the people to whom they are related by blood but nothing more than that. They do not feel the strength of the ties which many others may feel for the members of their families. There are people to whom their family is more than friends and relatives and colleagues. They are very close to their family and feel as if their family members are the world to them. These people are very close to all the other members of their family. Another answer to your question may be that the experience with the family is something people must not have. Such answers can be expected from people who belong to broken families. The kids whose parents are very strict and who beat them may be very scared and simply refuse to answer your question.

Although the family life means different things to different people in this world, psychologists are sure that the way a family behaves and the way people behave with their family members are the factors that shape the personality of that human being. Thus the unit of a family is very important. It is your duty to ensure that your family life is protected. It also is the duty of your fellow family members to pay all due attention to the family life. You must assess yourself as a family member to decide whether you are paying due attention towards your responsibilities or not. Similarly, you should assess the other members of your family and talk to them about what you think is the right way to make the family life even fuller of life and zest.

Assessing your family members does not mean to become a critic. The fact is that all of the members of the family should contribute towards a very happy family life. You must only consider those points which are affecting the family life as a whole. For example, your sister may have a habit of reading your dairies or letters with out permission. Now this may be done in good spirit, but that may hurt the privacy limits of another sibling. This may create problems. In this situation you must talk to your sister and tell her that her habit is hurting someone. To retain the close ties in the family everyone should learn to give enough space to others.

The most important fact is that you not only need to assess them but you also need to talk to them about it. If the habits of one of the family members are disturbing the others, he has to be told about it. But you have to ensure that you do all the critical work without making him or her feel bad. The actual target is to retain the strong ties of the family unit there. It is not to hurt someone or criticize someone. You must assess the other family members and ask them to fulfill their responsibility, but you must not do it in harsh tone. It is very important that you learn this trick. It is not the solution that you do not talk to your family members about the habits they should change. You have to tell them if some thing is going wrong and you want them not to behave in one particular way. Do it in a manner which looks good. Do not offend the others.
