Determine What You’re Worth

20 March 2010 No Comment

Have you ever felt taken advantage of? Of course you have…we all have at some point. What happened when you felt that way? Did you sulk and kick yourself for allowing yourself to be taken advantage of? Or did you learn something from that experience?

People allow themselves to be taken advantage of simply because they don’t know what they are worth. A poor sense of self-worth inevitably leads to you being taken advantage of because you don’t know how to say no.

YOUR TIME IS VALUABLE

The first step to determining what you’re worth is to decide that your time is valuable. Whether you work a full-time job, or you are a stay at home mom, your time is just as valuable as the next person’s.

Place a dollar value on your time. How much would you say you’re worth per hour? When you can place this kidn of value on yourself, it will not be quite so easy to try to take on the whole world by yourself.

YOUR THOUGHTS ARE POWERFUL

The second step you should take is to remind yourself that your thoughts are powerful. With your thoughts, you have the ability to choose to be happy or discontent. You can decide if you’ll allow yourself to be used as a door mat, or if you will stand up for yourself, despite feeling uncomfortable about it.

Your thoughts control your actions. When you begin to believe you’re worth more, your thoughts will start to take a shift in the same direction. You’ll suddenly begin to see more opportunities. You’ll be able to make more informed decisions. You’ll practice loving yourself more.

Determining your self-worth is important, and is something that every person should do.
