Defining And Achieving Success
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Luckily, the reverse is also true and a good map will give you the best chance of reaching your destination
The first step in becoming successful is to define what this means to you by devising a success plan. Formulating your plan is a mandatory stop on the path to achieving success. It has been said that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. It might sound harsh, but it’s absolutely true. After all, if you don’t know where you are heading, however will you know when/if you get there? The good news is that putting a good plan in place will carry you far in achieving great success.
So take the time for quiet self-examination to hear the message waiting for you in your heart. Success means different things to different people and only you can say for sure what it means to you. Calm the noise around you and within you so that you can uncover your own heart’s desire. Then do research and put the groundwork in place for a plan of action that will help you reach your goals. The plan provides the framework for your endeavors. Break your plan down into small, achievable steps. Put them in order and organize your plan approach.
Be sure to put plenty of time and effort into your planning stage. Break tasks down into small jobs that you are able to accomplish in a reasonable amount of time. Jobs that are too complex can overwhelm to the point of paralysis. Make your planning work for you. Evaluate your priorities carefully, and don’t be afraid to reexamine and shuffle the priorities as you need to. This is necessary as time passes, both because of new information and because of the things you’ve already crossed off of the list. Your priorities must be fluid so that you can react to changes with grace and efficiency.
After you have determined your goal and formulated your plan, the most important step remains – DO it! Implementation is crucial if you don’t want to live the old saying about the road to hell being paved with good intentions. You must be active and work toward your goals in order to reach your objectives. This is where the baby steps of your plan really come into play. If you are so overwhelmed by a task that you don’t know where to begin, you can spend more time worrying than achieving. Jump in and do something. Make things happen. Make progress. Really work toward your goal.
Finally, measure your results as you are working to achieve your objectives. Pay attention to whether the planned steps really did get you to the end result you had identified. It’s better to realize sooner rather than later if something isn’t working right. Make adjustments as you go. Don’t be afraid to completely rework your plan if it’s called for. Inspect what you expect and formulate your next steps accordingly.
Remember through this process that you are working to achieve a goal that you have selected for yourself. Respect your own wishes if the time comes when you feel like giving up. Don’t lose sight of your own defined objectives and of your plan. Achieve great success by creating, working, evaluating and continuing to work your success plan.
