Living under a mountain of debt cripples you. You’re unable to live in peace because of the weight and pressure of your financial problems. Creating a debt relief plan can be immensely beneficial in stopping this horrific pain.

Step One: Gather Your Bills. The first thing you must do to create a debt relief plan is know how much you owe and to whom. This will probably be the most difficult step for you if you’ve never done it before. But being able to see every bill you have and the amount of debt you owe will help motivate you and kick start you into action.

Step Two: Make A Plan. Once you have a clear understanding of the amount of debt you’re in, you’ll be much more capable of setting reasonable financial goals for yourself. these goals are what will help you get out of and stay out of debt forever. Begin by sorting your bills from highest to lowest in amount.

Step Three: Make Payments. The most important thing you can do is to make sure you keep making your payments on time. If you are behind on any bill, the first thing you need to do is get caught up. Once you’re caught up on all payments, start applying every extra dollar you can to the smallest bill and get it paid off. Then work your way up the ladder.

Step Four: Continue Moving Forward. Once you get going and start seeing some of your debt paid off, it will be tempting to get another credit card or create more lines of credit. Instead, save money for those purchases and wait until you have enough cash saved up to pay for it in full up front with cash.

Getting out of debt is possible. But you must have a plan and stick to it.
