No books on quotes to bring for now, and no 10 million dollars to show. May I have the two please

It is said that two poles never meet, the two halves of the brain, the left one and the right one never work in unison, and creativity and talent are never in equal proportions. You find artists who have an amazingly high level of creativity, and a great sense of aesthetics. However, that same person may see stars the moment he or she is asked to work with simple numbers. On the same lines, bean counters are rarely known to have appreciated colors on a canvas. However, the problem lies in the fact that creativity and talent are both important to ensure success- important to the extent of being critical.

You will rarely find a job profile that needs only talent, or IQ, and no creativity. Even the most ‘number oriented’ job profile, that of a scientist requires creativity. It’s a misconception which people have harbored their mind from time immemorial that scientist and other science related field do not require creativity. It’s because like many other artist a scientist also creates something out of nothing. Any act of creation obviously requires creativity on the part of the creator, whether he/she is a scientist, or an artist that does not matter. Every body needs creativity along with talent and IQ.

Talent is important, so is creativity. But what is critical is drive, determination… Without the drive or determination, we won’t be able to attain success. Success is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration..this is how the sentence goes but it is much more than a mere oft-quoted sentence. If you want to be successful, you need to have fire in the belly. You need to have that willpower which will give you the push to attain heights. Along with the drive and determination, if you are god gifted and have creativity and talent, your success may just come a bit earlier. However, if you lack the drive then no amount of talent or creativity can come to your aid.

Darwin once came up with the theory of survival of the fittest. If you are willing to put up a fight having creativity and talent at your side then you can become the fittest among the survivors. It is the survival, growth and rise of the fittest and not the most talented or the most intelligent or the strongest……. Creativity and talent is just a sub set of attributes that help you be fit, the main component is, and will always be, the resolve of purpose.

Just look around and count, how many among Bills Gates, Larry Ellisons and Laxmi Mittals were tagged ‘talented’ during their high schools? Perhaps, none. As a matter of fact, Einstein was almost considered as a mentally challenged kid in the school. So, public definition or creativity and talent are subjective and often misleading for the other. You are the true assessor of your own potential. So if you think you have the drive, creativity and talent in yourself to make a difference in this world, go out ..take the plunge.. and grab success….
