Anxiety and stress are a major detriment to healthy living, but unfortunately they can be tough to avoid.

Life keeps getting more hectic, things keep getting piled on you plate, while your responsibilities increase, how can you not get a little stressed?

It’s okay to be a little stressed and anxious about things, that’s human, but letting the stress grow can be very dangerous to your health.

When you feel anxiety building try asking yourself: why am I worrying?

Stress and anxiety are usually fueled by self-doubt, low-self esteem and outside pressures.

If you are feeling stressed out, try some of the following tips to help get that weight off your shoulders:

1. Just let it go:

Easier said than done of course, but whatever it is that is troubling you, is probably less important than your health, so just let it go, and start thinking positive about the situation.

2. Take a deep breath:

If you are feeling stressed, take a moment to sit back, relax, and take some nice long deep breaths. Put your body into a state of relaxation and let the stress disappear.

3. Talk to someone:

Get those problems off your chest. Keeping your problems inside is only making things worse. Getting an objective opinion on an issue plaguing you could be the best decision you ever made.

4. Write it down:

If you don’t want to talk about your problems to someone, try writing them down and getting them off your chest that way.

5. Get a good nights sleep:

If you are stressed or anxious, sleeping is near impossible, but if you can just let it go and get a good night sleep, in the morning things just might not look as bad anymore.

6. Listen to soothing music:

Nothing soothes the soul like slow rhythmic music. Put on a comforting CD, sit back and relax.

7. Meditation:

Activities like Tai Chi and Yoga can help relieve stress and anxiety and improve your health.

8. Exercise:

Sitting around and stewing in your stress won’t do you any good. Get up, get some exercise and start feeling happier and healthier again.

9. Improve your self esteem:

A lot of stress and anxiety is self-inflicted, and caused by doubts in your abilities. Learn to believe in yourself.

10. Cut back on caffeine, chocolate and coffee:

Why are the best things in life always the most hurtful? Unfortunately these three things are major stimulants and bad news when you are stressed out.

11. Be organized:

There is nothing like good organization to help you from being stressed out when the tasks begin piling up.

12. Do Nothing:

Does it get any easier than this? Just spend some alone time, meditate on life, thing about all the good things life has given you, and put things in perspective.

Stop pressuring yourself to be perfect at everything. And learn to accept failures as they come. This can go a long way to removing unnecessary stress from your busy life.
