While feeling the pressure of stress in not abnormal, if you allow that stress to remain without doing something to release it, you could cause serious damage to your health. These ten tips for stress management will help you release the pressure caused by stress.
1. Reduce your responsibilities. Much of the time, stress is brought about because of an overwhelming load of responsibilities. You can reduce your stress level immensely simply by giving up or doling out some of your responsibilities to others.
2. Ask for help. Many people who say they feel a great amount of stress also admit to not being able to ask for help because it makes them feel powerless and much like a wimp. Asking for help should be considered a sign of strength, not weakness. Stop trying to be super-human and ask for help when you need it.
3. Do something fun. A hobby is a terrific distraction that can help you release stress. Paint with watercolors, crochet an afghan, or read a book. Anything fun that gives you a break from your normal routine will help to reduce stress.
4. Go for a walk. A quick, 20-minute walk can do wonders for your body and brain. Lace up your sneakers and head outdoors for a nice walk around the block. Even better, head out to your favorite park or zoo and enjoy nature and the animals.
5. Eat better. Eating foods that are high in antioxidants can be enormously productive in cutting your stress and boosting your immune system. Some foods to try include: spinach, blueberries, beans, sweet potatoes, and broccoli.
